A DECADE AGO, meal kits from companies like Blue Apron and HelloFresh seemed to be the dinner solution that time-crunched home cooks had been waiting for. These subscription services that ship recipes and ingredients directly to one’s door promised all the deliciousness of a made-from-scratch meal, without the bothersome planning and shopping.
